fall capris

As a teacher I have a pretty large obsession with chinos. They are so practical and modest for my work environment. This year I decided that I would need some fall colors to make sure I transition seasons seamlessly. Here are the colors I decided on. I can't wait to start posting some outfits for y'all.

uh oh, empty!

I have a love-hate relationship with running out of things. On one hand I get to try new products since the old ones are gone, on the other some of these things are my favorites! Here are three things I just ran out of and wanted to share with you.

1. Bath and Body Works 3-wick candle: Honeysuckle- Y'all... this candle is serious to die for. It is the perfect amount of scent for a room in the spring time. There is nothing like the smell of taking a walk and finding a patch of honeysuckle, and this candle makes you feel that way every time you enter the room!

2. Biotin supplement- I'm sure a lot of you ladies have jumped on the bandwagon with me in Biotin use, but if you haven't run, skip, fly (however you want) to the store and pick yourself up a bottle. This stuff has been a life saver lately. Bad hair cut and need it to grow out? no problem... biotin helps. Need stronger nails? no big thing... biotin helps. Your skin looking extra tired lately? we've all been there... biotin helps. Okay, rant over.

3. Bath and Body Works Foaming Soap: blushing mimosa- mmm, this stuff smelled incredible. Although, I saved this bottle for a long time before using it so I'm not even sure it is a scent they carry anymore. But boy, did it smell fantastic.

What products have you just run out of?

good morning playlist

Ever have those mornings where you just know that getting ready is going to be close to the worst thing to happen to you. (a bit dramatic I know) But really, we have all had those mornings. I thought I would give you a few of my favorite songs to get me up and groovin' in the morning. P.S. always start with "Good Morning" by the beautiful Mandisa... it's the perfect way to look yourself in the mirror and say, "yepp, gonna kick this day's butt!"

fall outfit ideas

According to this gorgeous weather we are having, fall is approaching faster than we thought! Why not be prepared with a few easy outfit ideas. Put these outfits on hangers and tuck them away in your closet for those mornings when you wake up late. You'll look put together, even though we all know you are just lucky to be functioning without your PSL (pumpkin spice latte) in hand.

new food: Buger Bach

New Food: Burger Bach, RVA

As some of you may know by now I am working through my first 101 in 1001 list and one of my challenges is to eat at 10 new restaurants. This is proving to be a lot of fun, because who doesn't love food and new adventures?  Last week I got to experience a place my sister and her husband have been raving about for about a year now; Burger Bach in Richmond, Virginia. If you like trying new things on your burger and out of this world fries... this is the place for you!

I have to say, I love a good beer! They have a great beer list, everything from local to pretty far away! I decided to go with the Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro from Longmont, Colorado... wow, if you like a good stout please go in search of this bad boy.

\Well folks, they were right... this place is phenomenal. Probably the best burger I've ever had. I got the "Original" and added a fried egg, because I love a good fried egg on my burger.

Tips to the wise:

1. fries come in a pretty big bowl, share one with a friend if you aren't too hungry.
2. They waitress/waiter will ask "pink or no pink" for the way you want your burger cooked, say pink! (so yummy)

easy sides: potatoes

This is a pretty random post on my part, but I thought I would share my love of yummy sides. Lately, I have been on a potato kick. Its been fun to play around with the different ways to make them. Here are three of the ways I've made potatoes as a side in the past month: Baked potato with cheese and butter, rosemary garlic potatoes, parsley and butter potatoes.

Rosemary Garlic Potatoes
Gather: sea salt, rosemary, evoo, black pepper, and garlic powder

Wash and cut up a large potato, put a sheet of tin foil on a baking sheet, in a bowl mix together a couple tablespoons of evoo and a couple shakes of each of the spices. put the potatoes into the bowl and mix with your hands, then spread them out on the baking sheet.

Baked Potato with Butter and Cheese
So my roommate has one of these babies, and it is no joke! I love this thing... wash a potato, stick it in the bag, stick the bag in the microwave for four minutes and viola! Baked potato... add lots of butter and cheese! :)

Parsley and Butter potatoes
This is a side my mother use to make for a lot of our meals growing up... I love these things. They are so simple. Wash a bunch of red potatoes and cut them in half, boil them for about 10-15 minutes, drain them, add half a stick of butter and chopped parsley... done!

adult slumber party

This weekend I was able to spend some much needed time with my best friend. We had tons of fun breaking in her new apartment with a good old fashion sleepover! As always, she spoiled me rotten. She stopped by LUSH before our night together and grabbed up some of the best dessert I've ever tasted from Shindigs. Here are a few pictures from our time together, and I will make sure to review both of the LUSH products soon.

Face Mask: Feeling Beautiful Avocado & Oatmeal

You may remember my past post about picking up two new face masks over the summer. Well, I've been loving both of them and wanted to follow through with my promise to review the second mask. This bad boy is a clay mask made with avocado and oatmeal... yes, it smells like you should eat it! Oh, and one more thing about this mask, it's super cheap (can't beat that).

I love the smell and the texture of this clay mask. It is made for deep cleaning and purifying pores, and boy does it do the trick! My face has had significantly less acne attacks since I began using this mask.

Silly mud mask faces always make things a bit more fun.

I even used this mask twice at the beach to make sure none of the sand and grime was setting up shop in my pores. It made my face look great for the entire week.

What mud/clay mask is your go to?
