#OOTD teaching

It is always a struggle for me to find a school appropriate, yet cute, outfit for teaching every morning. I solve this issue by putting together a week worth of outfits on Sunday night and just pull from them depending on what that day holds. Here is a look at one of my outfits from this past week.

What I'm Wearing:
black and white dress-old navy
black opaque tights-target
white monogram scarf-a gift from my sister's wedding
riding boots-zooshoo

day off, shmay off

working from home
As a teacher, my work is never complete when I leave the school building. Here I am on my "day off" working on my couch. Although, the great part of a day off from school is that I don't have to get out of my PJ's. Here is the outfit I am sporting today while vegging out, watching Gossip Girl, and working on lesson  plans.

Black tank top
Black ankle long leggings
Comfy trouser socks

Sick Day Necessities

Even though when I woke up feeling like crud today and I took a sick day it is not like my usual sick days, this year I have a pile of papers to grade sitting in front of me on my bed. But I will make the best of it. Here are a few of my usual sick day necessities!
sick day
1. Yoga pants: although today is a day with no yoga involved... they just feel great.

2. Pair of comfy cozy socks: do I really need to explain?!

3. Coffee: once again... self explanatory.

4. Big throw blanket: I love my throw blanket because it is made for a queen bed. Let's just say I may or may not wrap myself up like a burrito on the reg.

5. Netflix: the ultimate "do nothing so you feel better" fix is laying around watching Netflix.

6. Homemade chicken noodle soup: and if you are too sick to make it yourself and/or have no one there to make some for you, homestyle chicken noodle out of the can will do the job as well.

New Semester Goodies!

back to school
As a future teacher I have a weirdly large obsession with office supplies and school stuff! As a result of this I really enjoy getting ready for new semesters. This semester is a bit different for me because I will be student teaching, but normally I would be getting everything ready for classes tomorrow. Here are just a few of my must haves for a new semester...

1. Thirty-one Bag: Once again, as a teacher pockets in and on my bags are a must. I have so many pens and pencils I can't keep up with them. I personally have a navy utility tote that I have monogrammed in white. This is an excellent bag to take class to class.

2. Paper Mate Flair pens: As I have mentioned in my previous post these are my favorite type of pens and I absolutely must have them around when grading papers. I love using the different colors for taking notes.

3. Kate Spade Notebooks: I thought these notebooks were absolutely adorable and love the covers. It is always nice to pull out cute notebooks instead of dull ones to keep your note taking motivation up.

4. Pair of Tennis Shoes: It is always a good idea to have a go-to pair of tennies in the back of your closet... or in the front. Some days there just isn't enough time to put on decent shoes and its nice to have something comfy to running errands and go to classes in.

5. Coffee Travel Mug: Coffee is a necessity in my life... as I said to someone today "if you want me to remember to take something with me in the morning just put it next to my coffee creamer in the fridge!" Why not have a cute carrier for that nectar of the gods!

6. Headphones: I always carry my headphones with me in case I need to watch a youtube video or want to jam out to some music in the library during a study session.

10/13

A new year means this years favorites!
2013 favorites

1. My cable knit sweater has been my best friend this year. It really does go with almost anything.
2. Another close friend have been my riding boots, there is always an excuse to wear them!
3. Although I got my wet brush on new years eve... I would qualify that as 2013, and it ROCKS. Literally the best thing I have ever used on my hair.
4. My monogrammed necklace is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry this year. I got it for my birthday this year from my best friend and have worn it with almost everything.
5. Something not pictured is "new music"... I am a person that is constantly listening to or singing something. There is never a day when I'm not looking for new music. There was so many new songs that got me through this past year, in happy or sad times.
6. I got my college class ring from my parents this past year for my birthday and it has become my everyday ring. I am absolutely obsessed with it. It matches me perfectly, silver, simple, and classic.
7.  As I have already written in a few of my posts I am obsessed with "they're real" by benefit. This mascara is absolutely fabulous!
8. Mally eyeliner is also a favorite of this past year for me because it goes on so well and doesn't smudge... exactly what I look for in an eyeliner. It also has a great "wear life"
9. If you haven't already figured it out, I am addicted to candles... like an intervention may possibly be necessary. This year's favorites are Cranberry Chutney from Yankee Candles and Pumpkin Spice from walmart
10. As a future teacher, office supplies is a weird addiction. I have loved these pens for sometime now, but this year it has been necessary for me to use my pack almost daily. I love both grading papers and taking notes with these beauties! Plus they come in a huge array of colors... you can't get much better than that.

a new year, same old me

The phrase "a new year a new me" has never been one of my favorites. I believe that we should try our best to become the best version of ourselves that we can, but we should love the journey along the way. I am well aware that a new me is not going to happen just because a glass ball has touched the ground in New York and the calendars turn another page. We have to work hard on our journey no matter where it takes us and in what time range. I was taking a pinterest break and came across an adorable Kate Spade image. I think these steps will give my journey of 2014 a twist and hopefully I can enjoy my ride a bit more!
